Job Description: 

We are seeking an entry-level inside sales representative to build and establish customer relationships via telephone and email communications. This position, located initially in our office near Midway Airport, is the starting point for progressing to an outside sales role within the company into an open assigned territory. The ideal candidate is results-driven, passionate about contributing to top-line revenue growth, and has experience selling a product.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • By learning the Daubert portfolio of products, identify opportunities for future growth through prospecting, qualifying, and activating new accounts.
  • Respond to requests for technical product literature from prospects & clients in a timely and professional manner
  • Identify and quantify opportunities generated by various media and other general customer inquiries. Follow-up on inquiries and coordinate with R&D for product recommendations.
  • Maintain marketing and sales tools such as ads, websites, product literature, and other publications.
  • Track growth of new customer activity and generate useful sales reports in our CRM to monitor the growth and profitability of key business areas.
  • Acquire market information through 3rd party databases.
  • Provide sales and technical support for current accounts.
  • Review with R&D and generate lab projects based on customer objectives. Use discretion to communicate updates to customers as often as needed.
  • Interface with R&D and various business units to determine the status of custom development projects.  Expected to leverage time in this manner to learn the underlying chemistry at the core of all Daubert products.
  • Travel to prospects, customers, and strategic partners to develop market intelligence and/or market research and to introduce potential new products.  Travels with the VP, Business Development, Sales or Technical representatives. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-2 years of experience selling a product
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or engineering or a related technical background is required; or some formal college education combined with equivalent industrial sales experience will be considered.
  • Excellent ability to manage and build relationships
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Advanced skills in communicating, selling and negotiating in English
  • Proficiency in a second language, in Spanish or French, is a plus
  • Unrelenting drive to understand and meet prospective customer needs
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office. Use of Salesforce or other CRM database is a plus. 
  • Must always have a valid motor vehicle driver's license
  • Some domestic travel and potentially international (Mexico/Canada) required.

This position is a professional industrial business-to-business sales role. Responsibilities will focus on securing new accounts for the company and growing our existing customer base of industrial coatings and adhesives users, supporting projects from initial contact through post-sales support.

The most successful salesperson will be able to learn and understand our technology and product offerings, not limited to:

  • Rust-preventative
  • Vibration /sound deadening
  • Polyurethane (hot melt, liquid, dispersion, pre-polymer)
  • Epoxy chemistry

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the assigned territory or target market and work with customers, distributors, and prospects to increase sales revenues.
  • Gain an in-depth knowledge of Daubert’s product offerings and customer processes to support and build sales territory.
  • Research and pursue prospects by markets and applications which align with Daubert Chemical’s strengths.
  • Work closely with management in prioritizing customer opportunities in terms of degree of viability, financial impact, and relevance to the Company’s strategic plan.
  • Create and present reports showing potential customers the cost benefit of purchasing Daubert Chemical products and utilizing our services
  • Build strong lasting relationships at every level of a prospect or current customer, and follow up with multiple buying influences in the customer’s organization, including owners, engineering, R&D, purchasing, et al.
  • Visiting customers onsite to review quality and functionality of products on an ongoing basis, identify and assist the customer in troubleshooting any equipment or material problems and follow all issues to resolution.
  • Build a robust pipeline of leads from trade shows, websites, association groups, co-suppliers and general cold calling to help in new business growth focusing on revenue generation and profit.
  • Determine needs, develop and execute an account specific business plan to identify the long term, mutual support requirements necessary for a strong, profitable and successful partnership.
  • Pipeline reporting to senior staff, developing prospective customer profiles and documenting all activity.
  • Extract relevant market intelligence related to competitive and customer activities – interpret opportunities and business risks to be considered and acted upon.
  • Develop an annual budget and work within limits.

Performance is measured by ability to achieve annual revenue targets through execution of sales tools and processes and by delivering results.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or engineering or a related technical background is required; or some formal college education combined with equivalent industrial sales experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in B2B sales; sales of adhesives, industrial coatings, or corrosion prevention products preferred.
  • Resides within the territory or be willing to relocate to the area.
  • Overnight travel at or above 50% is required.
  • Must always have a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Industry-specific experience in the cultivation, management and ongoing development of long-term strategic sales relationships.
  • A self-starter with the ability to see what needs to be done and follow through to achieve agreed upon assigned tasks; knows when to escalate for additional resources.  
  • Successfully manage travel, tasks, and projects concurrently using strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A good listener; manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs and solicits customer feedback to improve products and processes.
  • Ability to identify customers’ needs and work with other team members to provide customized solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports, proposals, etc.; effectively present information and respond to questions in a timely and appropriate manner.
