Job Description: 

Daubert Chemical Company is a well-established specialty chemical company with an emerging presence in the industrial lubricants sector. The company is seeking a Business Development Manager – Industrial Lubricants to expand its business within the category. The incumbent will lead expansion into new markets to support the overall growth strategy, while building relationships with existing clients to increase their current investment. This role is based out of our Chicago office, but can also be home-office based for individuals that have significant networks in other regions of the United States. Reports to the Director of Commercial Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development and New Account Acquisition 

  1. Work closely with cross-functional team members for the development of a sales and marketing plan for industrial lubricants.
  2. Identify & develop new business opportunities amongst industrial lubricants distributors/marketers.    Successfully land 2 – 3 new accounts per year.
  3. Engage and support lubricant distributors with their go-to-market plans for specialty greases and various other industrial lubricants.   Development of supporting marketing collateral will be required.
  4. Review and analyze the results of past campaigns to facilitate development of new initiatives and strategic partnerships.
  5. Monitor progress of related sales team activities in SFDC (SalesForce.com) and generate monthly reports and dashboard to evaluate progress against key goals.
  6. Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time (predominately in the United States.)

Competency and Intelligence Development 

  1. Stay abreast of market trends and competitors' activities in target industrial segments. Analyze implications of such trends and recommend changes.
  2. Provide industrial lubricant training sessions to sales staff (where applicable) and/or distributors to drive the growth of the business.
  3. Develop and distribute product-application concepts that highlight key segment value propositions.  

Product Portfolio Development 

  1. Develop business plans for new products that fit Daubert capabilities and meet the needs of the industrial lubricants market. 
  2. Create and submit Project Initiation Forms for new research initiatives.
  3. Coordinate commercialization activities in support of new product launches. 
  4. Ensure timely communication to all key stakeholders of progress towards key new product development initiatives.
  5. Develop communication/marketing plan to sales team and key prospects in support of new product introductions.  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • 7 years of experience with industrial lubricant B2B business development.   Previous experience with industrial greases in steel mill or mining operations is highly desirable.
  • Certified Lubrication Specialist certification from STLE, or ability to demonstrate in-depth familiarity with a wide range of industrial lubricants.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Business or Chemical / Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university is highly desired.   

SKILLS

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Additional proficiency in Spanish or French is desirable.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Must possess strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to tactfully communicate with all levels in and outside the company and build partnerships

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expertise to improve and implement safety programs and training to prevent/correct unsafe conditions and potential hazards.
  • Champion safe working environment, lead by example, and manage a multi-department employee Safety Team. 
  • Revise and implement policy changes and/or programs to optimize health and safety programs.
  • Facilitate safety training for all employees; manage Contractor Safety program, and visitor safety basics. Procure and assign online training according to safety training matrix. 
  • Responsible for meeting regulatory agency filing deadlines and reporting requirements, such as OSHA record-keeping, water testing reports, Tier II, SARA 313, air permit reports and RCRA reports as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Represent the facility during agency inspections and audits.
  • Participating in incident investigations, enhancing capability throughout the organization to conduct effective investigations which identify root-causes and implement sustainable corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Responsible for arranging waste removal with appropriate permitting and proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Key member of emergency response and internal threat response team; recommend strategic direction for continuous improvement of site response and security plans; train and prepare teams for emergency contingencies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain PSM with Engineering Department.
  • Must maintain competency and stay current with EHS by reviewing information sources for new and/or changes to existing relevant laws, rules and regulations. Notify management as appropriate. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering with a strong safety background or an EHS related field, and/or Bachelor’s degree with at least 5+ years equivalent EHS experience is required.
  • 5 or more years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting with responsibility for occupational health and safety is required. Chemical manufacturing background is highly preferred.
  • Must have experience with OSHA, US EPA and IEPA regulations and their application to site operations. 
  • CSP or CIH highly preferred
  • Completion of 10 and/or 30-hour general industry OSHA course preferred: OSHA authorized general industry trainer highly preferred
  • Ability to lead the PSM implementation
  • Produce accurate, high quality work in a time sensitive manner
  • Must possess strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to tactfully communicate with all levels in and outside the company and build partnerships

Daubert Chemical Company is seeking a third shift plant Utility Worker at its chemical manufacturing plant located near Midway Airport in Forest View, IL.

TEMP TO HIRE: Temporary employee through a staffing agency during training and 90-working day evaluation period. Must be able to work 9pm-5:30am Sunday-Thursday. Upon successful completion of training, the position is offered as a 3rd Shift Formulator at Daubert with eligibility for full-time benefits package.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Drum filling:

  • Review drumming sheets for each order. Locate drums, kegs, totes or pails as required by customer. Transport to filling area via hand or lift truck. Set pumps and filters using proper safety and quality procedures. Draw sample for QA. Fill containers, monitoring pump pressure. Weigh container and calculate weight to gallons. Label and record filled containers on drumming sheets.

Chemical Formulator/Operator:

  • Assist department Formulators in the batch making process; operate chemical processing equipment to formulate standard or custom products according to product specifications. Follow production schedule; follow batch sheet instructions and set up, weigh, measure, and mix ingredients in proper sequence, adding raw materials manually or with pumps and meters. Accurately record required information on batch sheet. Rotate stock, track inventory, submit samples to QA. Eventually need to be familiar with basic formulating procedures for any Production Department.
  • Clean equipment as required. Participate in housekeeping in the facility according to 5S.
  • Work mandatory scheduled weekday and weekend overtime as needed. Work adjusted hours as business necessitates.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality is required.
  • Follows, without exception, all work instructions, SOP’s, and safety rules, including use of all proper PPE and other safety equipment.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Related chemical operator experience is preferred
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Mechanical aptitude; familiarity with valves and pumps desired
  • Problem-solving ability; makes efficient use of time
  • Strong understanding of basic math
  • Ability to be trained and safely operate a forklift
  • Works well within a team and able to follow specific directions
  • Punctuality and excellent attendance are expected
